China Mobile Ltd. ist der weltweit größte Mobilfunkanbieter und ist an der Hong Kong Stock Exchange gelistet.

Das Unternehmen wurde 1997 unter dem Namen China Telecom (Hong Kong) in das Handelsregister in Hongkong eingetragen und änderte diesen im Jahre 2000 zu China Mobile (Hong Kong). China Mobile ist ein Tochterunternehmen der China Mobile Communication Corporation (CMCC), deren Hauptverwaltung sich in Peking befindet.

Das chinesische Unternehmen verfügt über knapp 522 Millionen Kunden (Stand: Dezember 2009) und jeden Monat kommen über fünf Millionen neue Kunden dazu. Nach der Kundenzahl ist das chinesische Unternehmen damit der größte Mobilfunkanbieter der Welt. Die 131.000 Mitarbeiter erwirtschafteten 2009 einen Umsatz von 48 Milliarden US-Dollar und einen Gewinn von 12,2 Milliarden US-Dollar.^[2]

China Mobile ist 2009 die wertvollste Mobilfunk-Marke der Welt. Mit 61 Milliarden US-Dollar liegt China Mobile auf Platz sieben weltweit (Markenwert alle Sparten) und damit zwei Plätze vor Konkurrent Vodafone.^[3]

China Mobiles Hauptaktionär ist China Mobile (HK) Group Limited, die zum 31. Dezember 2006 über die hundertprozentige Tochtergesellschaft China Mobile Hong Kong (BVI) Limited indirekt einen Anteil von 74,57 Prozent am Unternehmen hielt. Die übrigen Anteile von 25,43 Prozent hielten öffentliche Investoren.^[4]

China Mobile war offizieller Partner der Olympischen Sommerspiele 2008 in Peking.
